There are 3 reasons that are consistently given for why learners from an English-speaking background have difficulty with Arabic. The first is the alphabet, the second is the pronunciation, and the third is the grammar. In this video, I go over why learning the Arabic alphabet is not nearly as difficult or daunting as it seems from the get-go. Press play and give it a listen!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Wafeey Roslan. I studied English and got my degree in the language and have been trained to read the Qur’an since I was young. Note though that I am by no means an expert in Arabic but as someone with a deep foundation in American English and who is also on the same level as you, my fellow learners, I feel that some of my insights into the language can help make learning Arabic become something much less daunting. This is a concept that I’ve had brewing in the back of my mind for quite awhile now as I continue to learn Arabic, a way to bridge the gap between those with an American English background and the amazing and wonderful language that is Arabic.

You might be wondering, “Why should I listen to someone who’s not an expert in the language and is around the same level as I am in Arabic?” However, that’s exactly why you should tune in and give the video a listen! As the saying goes, the pro has long since moved on and forgotten the things that trouble the beginner. As a fellow beginner, I can give you tips and tricks that I currently use to learn Arabic and simplify things to make them much less daunting.

Arabic is often rated as a difficult language to learn by those that have only an American English background.
